Diane's Story

Diane Lynch
Vice President and General Manager, Manchester, England

I was finishing at the university when I saw the job advertisement for Enterprise. It was not a company I'd heard about, so I read a little bit about it and decided to interview. You could tell straight away that the people in this company truly love their company. No one can pretend that well. My basic thought was that if they could make an interview so enjoyable, then the job would have to be enjoyable. So, after graduation, I said to my parents in Ireland, "I'm off to England to rent cars!" Watching Enterprise grow here has been amazing.

What makes me most proud to be a part of Enterprise? I work for a company that has such great qualities. Enterprise will give back to you one hundredfold what you give to them. I give them my time and commitment and I've received all the opportunities I've ever wanted. In fact, I was promoted to City Manager only weeks before my son, Frankie, was born. It demonstrated great confidence in me, and that's the environment here.

Everyone at work knows my children and shows great interest in them. It's important to my husband and me that we spend proper time with Harry and Frankie, so we'll have a day trip on the weekend or fun outings at the park — and we spend lots of time at birthday parties! I don't have family here, but I do have a strong network of Enterprise friends that are always there for me. When Harry had to go through an operation, my boss and his wife helped relieve the stress by offering to take care of Frankie for us. That's Enterprise.

My friends all thought I'd gone mad when I left Ireland for this job. Today they tell me they're so envious, not only because I'm earning more than they are, but because I totally love what I do. I feel like I'm living proof that Enterprise completely delivers on its promises.
