Sharon's Story
Sharon Patrick
Area Manager, Newport News, VANot long after transferring to Virginia Beach, I found myself newly married in a brand new city with no friends, no family, a new job, completely new co-workers — and a military husband who was gone at sea for six months. Oh, and did I mention that it was during the holidays?
I thought to myself, "I can do this. It's going to be tough, but I can do it." And then the phone rang. It was one of my new co-workers, saying, "Sharon, come to my house for Christmas." Then the phone rang again. And again. More invitations. I couldn't believe it. I remember thinking, "They don't even know me and they're welcoming me with open arms." But that's just the way Enterprise is.
Enterprise has given me tremendous flexibility as the mother of my three-year-old twins, Jalen and Kaylen — right from the very beginning. My husband and I are a team to make things work at home. And my work team is just as supportive. When you know your company trusts you and backs you to be what you need to be, then it makes you push harder to help the company succeed.
My favorite value? I'd say, "We work hard... and we reward hard work." This is a company that gives you every tool to succeed. I joined Enterprise right out of college and I'm still jazzed...still looking forward to that next opportunity. That's a situation you don't often hear about anymore. I really feel blessed.
